For books selected by Palm Publishers following review, Palm Publishers offers eBook publishing. An eBook is an electronic version of the book that can be downloaded and read using Adobe Acrobat eBook Reader. To protect against unauthorized resale/copyright violation, Palm Publishers uses Digital Rights Management (DRM) which blocks copying or printing of the eBook. An eBooks can be read on a desktop computer, laptop computer, or handheld PDA.eBooks are sold via file transfer. Once the book is properly formatted and print-ready for paperback publishing, it is also ready for electronic publishing. Using eBook electronic publishing is a less expensive and more efficient way to market a book. Palm Publishers offers the following:
eBOOK (FILE ONLY, NO MARKETING):
If the author wants a file copy of the eBook, but does not want Marketing [See Marketing], then Palm Publishers delivers a copy of the eBook file at no charge. No marketing/selling services are performed.
eBOOK PUBLISHING AND MARKETING:
If the author wants both electronic publishing and Marketing [See Marketing], then the eBook is packaged for sale on the internet via electronic file transfer.
Electronic products are sold/delivered "on-demand", so there are no minimum orders. There is a one-time set-up charge of $25.00 to process orders for eBook sales via electronic file transfers. The Author sets the retail price for eBooks; the minimum retail price is $1.95 and the maximum retail price is $7.95. The author's share of proceeds depends on the retail price, retail costs (vary by retailer) and wholesale costs.
Palm Publishers uses its internet partner company, Lookmark.com to assist with electronic publishing, and website development and management.
NOTE: Electronic Printing is only available if: (1) the book has been formatted [See Formatting; Print-set-Up]; (2) the cover design template has been completed [See Cover]; (3) the book has been copyrighted [See Copyright]; (4) the book has been ISBN-registered [See ISBN]; and, (5) the book has a UPC barcode [See UPC]. If the book is not going to be marketed as an eBook, then item (5) can be omitted.
